Positano

A pearl of the Amalfi Coast, Positano is one of the most photographed villages in Italy: pastel-coloured houses clinging to the rock, flower-lined stairways and small shops filled with local textiles. From Mimì sul Mare, it is easy to reach with group excursions or by renting a boat, which will take you there in about 30 minutes. Once ashore, the village can be explored entirely on foot.

Not to be missed is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, with its unmistakable green and yellow majolica dome and the precious Byzantine icon of the Madonna preserved inside. A little further on, Spiaggia Grande offers the classic postcard view of the village reflected in the sea, while the more secluded Fornillo Beach, reachable on foot along the cliffside path, is the perfect spot for those seeking peace and quiet.

The return by boat at sunset, with Positano glowing in warm light behind you, is a sight that is hard to forget.
